M
Stevens and Son is a family fish business based in the lovely
location of St Ives, home of the Cornish Tate, a long established
community of artists and one of Cornwall's top beaches.
A
business steeped in Cornish heritage, Matthew Stevens senior
is renowned locally for holding the last fish auction in St
Ives, he then went on selling fish from the old slipway before
being called up to the second world war. On returning to St
Ives he was granted a license to set up business wholesaling
fish, only two doors from their present location. Often sourcing
fresh fish and shellfish on a daily basis, M Stevens is based
at the heart of Cornwall's rich fishing areas.
Fish
is landed quickly, in prime condition and dispatched with
speed, guaranteeing only the freshest, quality products. Respecting
the marine environment and supporting the efforts of the seafood
industry is at the core of their business.
It
is perhaps no surprise then to learn that they have supplied
fish for the Queen's Jubilee Dinner, the BBC Good Food Show
and an Oxford Ball to name a few. Their reputation for top
quality seafood sees them now supplying some of the country's
best hotels and restaurants, including Rick Stein.
